Eighteen shoot days. Twenty-one locations. Ten stories to be told, and thirty years of a mission to unlock human potential to condense into portraits that would let each subject speak for themselves.

That was the brief we took on for The QF Generation, Qatar Foundation's immersive storytelling initiative for its 30th anniversary. Commissioned by QF Comms, we produced ten films for the wider archive of thirty stories, filming students, alumni, researchers, teachers and family members in the environments that shaped them, from research labs to family homes.

The QF Generation Documentary Series Across 21 Locations

Each film follows an interview-driven documentary approach: intimate conversations grounded in the environments that matter most to each subject, whether a laboratory, classroom, farm, family home, campus or studio. The B-roll is woven throughout to reflect the interviewee's own world, letting the ten stories unfold naturally against the real spaces of Qatar Foundation and beyond.

  • 10 hero films, totalling nearly 50 minutes of long-form content

  • Approximately 30 cutdowns for social media and the QF stories platform

  • 21 shoot locations across Doha, including universities, research centres, cultural venues and private homes

  • 18 shoot days between September and October 2025

A Cinema-Grade Production Setup

The series was shot with a two-camera cinema setup, chosen for consistency of image and colour across the twenty-one locations and the wide variety of light conditions encountered.

  • Cameras: Sony FX9 and Sony FX3

  • Lens package: DZOFilm Catta 18-35, 35-70 and 70-135, plus Sony 16-35, 24-70 and 28-135

  • Lighting: Aputure 600D, 300D and 120D Mkii, Falcon Eyes RX-18TD, Nanlite Pavotube kits and a Dedo Colorist kit

  • Sound: Zoom H8 recorder, Sennheiser SK100-G4 lavaliers, Rode boom

  • Camera support: DJI RS4 Pro gimbal, Sachtler and Manfrotto tripods

A Reach Beyond the Films

Since launch, the series has surpassed 375,000 combined views across YouTube, Instagram and Facebook, resonating well beyond Qatar Foundation's immediate community.
